President's Corner
Dear Friends:
It's the start of a new year for
OHSLA -- our 16th! After
the excitement of last year when we
hosted the Midwest Chapter Annual
Meeting in Columbus, celebrated our
15th Anniversary and
enjoyed a great spring meeting at
Mt. Carmel, what can we do to top
that for 2010-2011!
Let's consider what OHSLA can do for
YOU now.
-
Provides an environment where
YOU can make contacts with
health science librarians
throughout the state who can
serve as mentors, confidants,
problem solvers, supporters, you
name it, the list is endless
-
Offers inexpensive continuing
education courses for YOUR
personal and professional
development
-
Keeps YOU up to date with
current happenings in the
hospitals and health science
academic institutions through
the OHSLA Voice
-
Makes available (to YOU) a
discussion forum through the
membership only listserv
Here's what we plan for this year.
-
Survey the membership regarding
health literacy initiatives at
YOUR institution and create a
database of YOUR responses for
YOUR collective use
-
Provide terrific content (to
YOU) for our two inexpensive
meetings
-
Survey as many health sciences
librarians or library staff as
we can identify to ask how we
can make OHSLA more relevant and
helpful to YOU
Notice that most of the above
statements have the word YOU or YOUR
in them. OHSLA is YOUR organization.
Help us keep it vital by
participating and taking advantage
of all the opportunities offered.
With warm regards,
Bette Sydelko
