The President presides over all OHSLA meetings and serves as official spokesperson of the group. The President, with approval of the Executive Committee, appoints committee chairs and members, the editor of OHSLA Voice, and the webmaster.

Jackie Harris is the former Medical Librarian at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio.  Prior to that time, she had worked as a reference librarian in public libraries:  the Medina County (OH) District Library, the Cobb County (GA) Library System, and the Atlanta-Fulton (GA) Library System.  She also interned at two special libraries: the American Bankers' Association Library in Washington, D.C., and the research library at Advanced Elastomer Systems in Akron, Ohio.  Jackie obtained her undergraduate degree in marketing from the University of Florida, and her M.L.S. from the University of Maryland.  Medical librarianship is a mid-life career change for her and she loves the challenge and diversity.  Jackie lives on a small farm with her retired librarian husband, four children, and a menagerie of critters.

Michelle Kraft is the medical librarian at South Pointe Hospital, an
osteopathic hospital  in the Cleveland area.    Previously, she was the
electronic resources librarian at the Cleveland Clinic Alumni Library.  She
received her MLS from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is member of
the Academy of Health Information Professionals, MLA, and the Medical
Library Association of Northeast Ohio.  Her research interests are library
technology and user education.

The Treasurer is responsible for receipt and disbursement of all funds, and submits a written financial report at each meeting. The Treasurer also maintains the official membership list and serves as Chair of the Membership Committee.

Susi Miller is the director of the D.J. Vincent Medical Library at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She received her MLIS from Kent State University in 2003.  Past library positions held include Library Assistant at Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Pease, LLP in Columbus and Library Supervisor & Cataloger at Riverside.  Susi currently serves as the Networking Coordinator for COHSLA, the Central Ohio Health Sciences Library Association, and is a member of the Medical Library Association and the Midwest Medical Library Association. Susi holds a BA in History from the Ohio State University and was also enrolled in the Graduate Entry program at the Ohio State University's College of Nursing for two years prior to transferring to Kent State’s School of Library & Information Science.  Her research interests include nursing and business/management. Susi lives in Columbus with her husband Scott, who is also a librarian, and their 3-year-old daughter, Zoey.

Fern has worked in Health Sciences Libraries for over 30 years. She was in hospital libraries for 27 years, first at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI and at all 3 of the Mount Carmel Health Libraries here in Columbus. Currently, she is assistant professor and research librarian at the Prior Health Sciences Library at The Ohio State University. As the research librarian, she works with researchers offering her expert searching skills and sits on one of the Institutional Review Boards. She also participates in teaching and research.  

Fern has been active in COHSLA, serving as President in 2000, OHSLA, as one of the charter members, Midwest Chapter of MLA, serving as the Exhibits chair when the conference was hosted in Columbus in 1996. Fern also served a term as secretary in the O.H.I.O, one of the two regional organizations that merged to form OHSLA. She has also been a member of MLA since 1975.

Regional Advisory Council Representative

The Regional Advisory Council Representative serves as the communication link between OHSLA and the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) of the Greater Midwest Region of National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM). The RAC Representative is from a primary access library within the State of Ohio and serves a two-year term.

Shirley is Assistant Librarian, Public Services and Instruction at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. A member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) who serves on the Ohio Academic Private Libraries (OPAL) User's Advisory Committee, she is also a member of the Medical Library Association (MLA), the Midwest Chapter of MLA, and  the Ohio Health Sciences Library Association (OHSLA).

Shirley is institutional liaison for ALAO (Academic Library Association of Ohio). She has also served as President of the Washington Medical Librarians Association, vice-chairman of the Pacific Northwest Medical Library Group and was appointed to the Governor's Washington Library Advisory Committee.

She earned an MLS from the University of Hawaii with additional graduate work in human resources at Salve Regina University, Newport, RI and a BSJ from Ohio University. She formerly was a reference librarian at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio, directed the Health Information Network Services for Providence and General Hospitals in Everett, Washington, worked at the Health Information Network of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii and was the Health Sciences Librarian at Regional Memorial Hospital in Brunswick, Maine.
